RAIL BUDGET 2012-13; SAD REFLECTIONS.

Addressing the media, Trinamool Congress Chief, Mamata Banerjee is reported to have said that the party would not allow any hike in railway fares to happen. Banerjee denied having been consulted by Railway Minister and Party colleague Dinesh Trivedi, on the issue of fare hike.

The Trinamool Congress has also now raised the banner of opposition to the fare hike proposed by him and demanded a roll-back.

Mamata Banerjee further declared that she will not allow any hike in railway fares proposed in the Railway Budget.

"We will not allow rail fares to be hiked," she told a public meeting , hours after Trivedi had proposed an across-the-board hike in passenger fares to raise Rs.4,000 crore extra this year.

Stating that she was not aware of the move to raise the fares, Banerjee asserted, "I assure you we will not accept this fare hike."

As I have often maintained in some of my earlier Posts that this Blog feels happy in maintaining a respectable distance from all things Political, but it is time that the people who matter realise that in the long run good economics does make good politics as well.
